There is only one article of headwear I acknowledge for babies and that is the bonnet. The last thing the world needs is more fetal newborns in one of those bow headbands or a god forbid a beanie. The bonnet is so iconically baby, and every time I’d go out into the world, it was the single most commented upon article of clothing in Zola’s closet. My favorite bonnets are of the pixie/ gnome variety.
My go to were these ribbed Lovely Littles bonnets. I had probably 5-6 of these ribbed pixie hats at every stage. The colors are also delicious, all muted rainy garden tones.
My other faves were from one of my all time favorite brands Bebe Organic. All organic, textural goodness.
We had a couple sun hats for walks too as she got a little bigger–
A couple notes: After trying a lot of different styles– I found the non ribbed/ plain fabric versions too thin, they can look a bit gappy. I feel like the texture of the ribbed or something like it makes a really big difference for how quality the bonnet looks. Conversely, some of the knit bonnets are too bulky, which I think looks proportionally odd on a baby whose head is already so much bigger than her little body.
